Isn’t that how it always works? When we have hours to sit and write blog posts, there’s a reason. When will someone invent a device to just convert our thoughts into blogs so we don’t have to take the time to actually write them? Read the rest of this entry »
When we have the most to say, we don’t have the time to say it…
February 27th, 2009Press Release Party
February 22nd, 2009Just in case our week wasn’t busy enough… between working on new product designs, sourcing new sustainable materials, corresponding with the manufacturer, coordinating our upcoming trips to LA, drafting press releases, working on our media outlets for Earth Day promotions, etc…. We decided to dedicate our Saturday night to Read the rest of this entry »
Fashion Production - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
February 12th, 2009We spent yesterday in Los Angeles to meet with some factories and look at new textiles. To say the least, it was a long day. We had a good friend with us, Matt Schultz, who has a clothing company (www.shultzsurf.com ). Once we had coffee and smoothies in hand we embarked on our two-hour drive to the fashion district. Our first stop was the Giggle Handbag factory, where the Bagonia bags are Read the rest of this entry »
Awesome Biz Nas Partner
February 11th, 2009You know you’ve got a great friend and business partner when…
They will pick through the trash for you and pull out your left over California burrito that gave you food poisoning in case you have to sue the restaurant you bought it from…
Or that will be the driver to see the manufacturer in Los Angeles (Yay for our LA trip tomorrow!)…
Or that has great vision for new Bagonia designs!
Just thought I’d brag – not everyone can have an innovative trash picker as a business partner
New Week
February 9th, 2009It’s technically the start of a new work week. But our days and weeks tend to meld together. Day off? What’s that? Yesterday Nichole represented Bagonia at the Farmer’s Market in Hillcrest to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team In Training. Our friend Jim is training for the Lavaman triathlon in Hawaii on March 29 and for the month of February we will donate a portion of each Bagonia sale to his fundraising.
Anyway, back to the market. Several people noticed the bags from the news, which was encouraging and exciting. Hopefully the recognition will continue to pour in and we’ll raise a lot of money for LLS.
Today we are working some more on our business plan. The boring stuff. The mandatory details that we don’t like to think about, but will be the backbone behind our successful venture. So we better leave you alone so we can get to work.
By the way… We noticed that we had over 300 hits on our blog last Friday. Keep reading! And feel free to leave comments. We won’t bite. Maybe just a nibble. You can also follow us on Twitter. Username: her_niche.
HN HQ
February 6th, 2009Nichole’s livingroom has become the headquarters for Her Niche. It’s a cozy place, roomy enough for all three of our computers (a PC laptop, a Mac Book Pro, and a Dual Processor G5 Macintosh tower). Somehow the room seems about ten times smaller when Noah is here juggling Bakugans and nicknaming each of his toes (Targee, Juvie, Owl, Midget, and Sailor Jack). But, the show must go on. Today’s agenda…
- Update this here blog since we know you are all dying to subscribe.
- Upload our interview from CW Channel 6.
- Send out some pitches
- Master Bakugan transformation
- Celebrate Aloha Friday
Newbreaking it Solo Today
February 5th, 2009Nichole is working from home with Noah today. Poor little guy has been up since 4:30 a.m. sick
So I’m hitting Newbreak solo for a bit…nothing like being by the surf, listening to one of my favorite HI reggae bands, working on drafting media pitches and our “must do list” for the next few days.
Hmmmm…now if they could just spike my Irish tea and make it an Irish coffee for a little creative inspiration I’d be set – only kidding, well mostly.
Back at 976… And exhausted.
February 4th, 2009What can we say? We’re suckers for cheesy eggs.
We had a late night last night. Into the wee hours of the morning. But we shouldn’t complain because it was productive, positive, and definitely gave us some food for thought. We attended a meeting with the Eco Investment Club and met with some very smart and inspiring individuals who spoke about the future of green companies in relation to investors and consumer trends. It was fascinating, informative, and quite frankly a lot of fun. Which is why we are so tired today!
Adriana spoke at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) this morning about one of the Her Niche products. We are being featured in a branding class as a semester project for the students. They will come up with a marketing plan, brand identity, logo, etc. for our next product that will be launching later this year. We can’t tell you what it is because our key to world domination is locked in the vault.
We’ve been connected with a top notch web and branding company called Namtra Media. They will possibly be working with us on getting our websites going in exchange for our interpretive dance skills and a home-cooked meal. Only kidding… Kind of. So now we eat and drink and make site maps. Fascinating, I know.
976 Breakfast Work Meeting
February 2nd, 2009We are both feeling extremely ill but made plans last night to meet at 9:30 a.m. What were we thinking? So far we’ve broken two rules today and are ready to take on the world…Yes, we took the breakfast nook were it says no working allowed and absolutely no adults can order from the kids menu - I don’t think so. Mmmmm, cheesy eggs. Now to get down to biz nas…
To Do Today:
- Prioritize media distribution list
- Prioritize investor relation outreach
- Work on the nitty gritty of biz plan
- Not die from our colds
Post Interview Breakfast
January 31st, 2009We’re sitting at Newbreak in OB enjoying breakfast and trying to figure out how to post the DVD of this morning’s San Diego 6 CW interview (they were super awesome and gave us a copy of the segment but we can’t share it - it’s locked). After breakfast we’re headed to Tower 2 to enjoy the sunshine and beech ourselves (even though the eggs were so-so the view is stellar and we ate a lot), plan for tonight’s boutique opening and world domination.
